In the many years of teaching as a flutist, I have seen, again and again, how many students are only aware of parts of their body while playing the flute.
They are busy thinking about their arms and their fingers, the wind players are concentrated on the lips and on the chest because of the breathing.
All these years now, it´s been a huge concern of mine to instill in the students the idea, that the whole body IS INSTRUMENT, that, for example, the movements of the toes correlate with the movements of the fingers, that the mobility of the legs, the knees, has an immediate influence on the breathing, because of the bigger flexibility of the diaphragm, that the movement of the body influences the phrasing of the music, and therefore also changes the sound, that to be aware of our whole body can counteract and dissolve tensions and cramps... the list of advantages could go on and on.
Music is an association of body, spirit and soul.
Yoga is an association of body, spirit and soul.
I for myself, found yoga already many years ago. It´s an ideal supplement to my profession as a musician.
Both the physical aspects and the mental (preparing a performance, dealing with stagefright...), and the psychic aspects- what would music be without soul!
Therefore I prepared my qualification as a yoga-teacher with great enthusiasm and I want to share this tremendous enrichment of my life with you.
